Million Air Hangar 6
This project is a tenant improvement to an existing aircraft hangar. It consists primarily of new office space built inside of the existing Hangar #6 on the Million Air FBO campus, also designed by MPA and built by Jacob White. The office was designed at the back corner of the hangar so that the tenant can park their private planes and have direct access to on-site amenities. The front-of-house space includes a guest lobby, conference rooms, personal offices, coffee bar, and restroom with shower. There is also a shop office, where pilots can do flight planning, and a hangar restroom with a shower, where pilots and staff can refresh between flights. The challenge of this design was meeting the strict Federal Aviation Administration safety requirements for structures within an aircraft hangar while still delivering a comfortable and elegant space that looks and feels effortless. Featuring a full-height glass wall at the front of the spacious lobby, the interior design utilizes high-end finishes and a complete FF+E design solution. The tenant has requested an ‘authentic Austin look-and-feel’, which combines clean-cut detailing from the new Austin tech vibe with more rugged Hill Country inspired material highlights and music-scene accent pieces.
