Pecan Gardens

This project was a renovation of an existing 45,400 SF Candlewood Suites hotel in Central Texas. Covering 3 floors of space, this renovated space provides 78 units of supportive housing with features including a social lounge, media lounge, fitness center, community kitchen, computer lab, training room, and break out spaces for small group therapy. Outside the building, we added multiple gathering spaces for residents to gather on the patio or work together in the community garden. When demolition of the pre-existing structure began, we discovered a few unexpected conditions and damage to the space, which extended our timeline slightly. During that extended timeline, however, we provided branding services to Pecan Gardens, creating their logo and brand colors.

Because the residents of this building are over the age of 55, the design of this renovation took into consideration trauma-informed design, following the framework of the 3 Cs: Comfort, Community, and Choice. These main pillars of our design inspired this empowering space for residents, full-time staff, and temporary social workers, by providing public and private interior and exterior spaces for all residents to use and enjoy.
